Our Whole Child Strategy

What sets us apart? At Kids’ CBC, we are all about developing the whole child. Our educational mandate is to create and air shows and develop content that is not only age-appropriate, but that also actively promotes healthy child development across all areas—social, cognitive, emotional, creative and physical. In addition to our own Kids’ CBC interstitial content (which specifically targets the five main areas of development), the programs in our lineup and our interactive content has been carefully selected to reflect a balance of the core developmental domains.

Social Development

This content will help your child learn how to navigate the world around them and their place within it. This includes content that helps children foster and develop personal relationships with friends and family, as well an understanding of the diversity of cultures and lifestyles across Canada and around the world.

Cognitive Development

This content develops knowledge in four key areas: literacy, numeracy, science and problem solving.
Literacy cognitive development focuses on word and letters: letter recognition, word acquisition and comprehension and spelling.
Numeracy cognitive development focuses on numbers and math: number recognition, basic math problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), fractions, percentages, patterns and more.
Science cognitive development includes content that touches on basic science and nature concepts including things like nature, weather and simple machines.
Problem-solving cognitive development helps kids understand how to process and solve problems through logic, investigation and deduction.

Emotional Development

This content will help your child understand and better regulate their emotions, including emotions that are difficult for young children to comprehend and manage, such as frustration, sadness and fear. By helping your child recognize emotions within themselves and others, this content will also foster empathy and kindness.

Creative Development

This content will help your child tap into their creativity through music, art and crafts!

Physical Development

This content will contribute to the development of a healthy lifestyle! It’s all about getting up, getting moving and having a great time while doing it.
