CBCNews.ca, which highlights new research in the February 18 issue of the journal Pediatrics.
Often, watching too much television is cited as a cause of many problems in children, but the research indicates that it may also be a part of the solution, if parents and children choose to watch educational or prosocial programs. One of the programs used in the study was
Super WHY, which airs on Kids' CBC.

The study "demonstrated that an intervention to modify the viewing habits of preschool-aged children can significantly enhance their overall social and emotional competence, and that low-income boys may derive the greatest benefit."
Screens are a big part of our lives, and limiting screen time to two hours per day is sometimes easier said than done. The study suggests choosing educational programs that encourage empathy, problem-solving and non-violent conflict resolution is a good choice for parents and kids.
Part of the Kids' CBC mandate - both online and on-air - is to empower and celebrate preschoolers by providing them with educational and developmentally appropriate content, which is fun and engaging.
