Is your child nervous about skating? Read about Saumon de Champlain's first time on ice
Kids' CBC's Saumon de Champlain is the three-time World Champion Salmon Figure Skater in the Fancy Hat category.
But as you'll learn below, it took a lot of effort not to feel like a fish out of water out there on the ice...
Battle of the Fins
"My dear father, Sockeye de Champlain, was the greatest salmon skater in all of la belle province. My greatest dream was to follow in his finsteps and glide out onto the St-Laurent in a blaze of roe coloured glory. But the first time I slipped my little fins into the skates I began to flip and flop and spin around until I became embarrassed and worried that my father would never take me out with him again. But do you know what he did? He fixed me some hot soy chocolate and gave me a little kiss. After that we returned every Saturday morning - where without pressure or expectations I was able to practice and spawn the great talent which I now command at the flick of a single champion fin."
