Over the Rainbow Wrap Up - Episode 6

Our sixth performance episode is a wrap Rainbow fans, and once again our Dorothys graced us with powerhouse performances.

While heartwrenching ballads were the general order of the evening, the show opened with the Top 5 performing Together, Wherever We Go from the musical Gypsy.

Lasalle, Ontario's Danielle Wade then set off the night's solos with a silky smooth performance of At Last from the musical Orchestra Wives. The fans loved it, and the judges loved it, heaping praises on Danielle for her versatility and storytelling. Thom Allison's only criticism was 'Don't feel you have to ornament.' And as host Daryn Jones put it, 'I think it's good when the judges are searching for bad things to say about you.'

Stephanie La Rochelle followed, singing Adele's Someone Like You with a four string quartet accompanying her. Our judges were spellbound, and Louise Pitre commented 'You have a quality that is very unique, there's a fresh faced vulnerability to you that is so perfect for Dorothy.'

Next up was AJ Bridel, performing Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better. It was another solid showing for AJ, and judges commented that it was interesting to see a side of her that was a little more subdued than usual.

Colleen Furlan then enchanted viewers with a touching, tear-jerking performance of Barry Manilow's The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face. Arlene Phillips commented that she wanted to see more 'pain' in the performance, but Louise Pitre countered, explaining that she felt that was the most she'd seen Colleen give in a performance.

London's Cassandra Hodgins was our final solo performer of the evening, singing Elton John's Your Song. Judges praised Cassandra's energy and bravery, but asked for more from her on an emotional level.

The evening closed out with Over the Rainbow's biggest group number to date. Our Top 5 hit the stage with seven dancers performing a cheerleader clad rendition of You Can't Stop The Beat from the hit musical Hairspray.
