Celebrate Black History with Us!

CBC is proud to support the 5th Annual TD Then & Now series and this year promises to be a fun-filled program! From January to March TD Then & Now will hold an exciting line-up of cultural events in celebration of Black History Month in Canada.

Join the CBC across the country as we celebrate the achievements of black Canadians and the rich history of African and Caribbean culture. The series includes art exhibits, film, live performances and much more! This year TD Then & Now will host events in Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.

At the end of the month, we're thrilled to host the closing Gala of TD Then & Now, an evening with Molly Johnson who is appearing March 8 at the NAC

Here in Ottawa we'll continue to bring you stories from our community in support of Black History Month. Stories like this from Adrienne Coddett, a local high school teacher, who recently participated in the CBC Human Library event. Here she talks about her approach to teaching and how she hopes to set an example for her young students with her story of struggle and triumph as one of four black students in her high school.
