With the help of generous contributions by the public, CBC Ottawa's annual charity drive raised $82,930 for Shepherds of Good Hope this past Friday, December 7.
This is a record for any CBC Ottawa fundraising event.
Last year Shepherds of Good Hope served over 700,000 meals in its soup kitchen, and provided groceries to more than 21,000 Ottawa families in need. It also provides emergency shelters, health care, supportive living, and "enhanced support programs" which help people manage their addictions.
"It was truly inspiring to see the outpouring of support from our listeners," said Ruth Zowdu, Executive Producer of Current Affairs at CBC Ottawa. "The Shepherds of Good Hope does important work in this city, and it feels good to know that we helped make such a difference today."
CBC Ottawa would like to extend a very warm thank you to everyone who supported this year's Holiday Charity Drive.
