A big thanks to the Ottawa Community Police Centers, who provided us with the Bike Safety Tips we posted last week. These centres promote crime prevention programs, and engage the communities in which they serve. Examples of work done by Community Police officers include assisting with neighbor conflict, and public awareness campaigns about ongoing concerns that are specific to each community (i.e. car thefts, break and enters and drug activity).
They are also the first point of contact for community members that are unfamiliar (or socially isolated) with the role of the police service and how they can assist.
