"Ineligible writer" Tzeporah Berman questions funding rejection

Denman Island held its 10th Readers and Writers Festival this past weekend.

Like a lot of events they rely on modest Canada Council grants to help with costs such as travel expenses for their authors.

But this year the festival organizers were surprised when, a significant part of their grant request was turned down. As well, featured author and environmentalist Tzeporah Berman, was rejected as an "Ineligible writer" for Canada Council funding.

Festival organizer Des Kennedy said it's the first time an author at the festival has been rejected in this way.

Gregor spoke with Tzeporah Berman.
