Waiting lists for trades programs persist despite skilled labour shortage
By 2020, B.C. will be short 60,000 skilled workers. 30,000 of those jobs
will be in the construction industry. BCIT Construction School Dean Rod
Goy says it is extremely challenging to fix the skilled worker shortage
problem because there is more demand for trades school educations than
there are spaces available.
