The Microbiology of the Beef Recall
Several beef products have been recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Officials say they could be contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The products include beef products sold under Costsco's Kirkland Signature brand and at Safeway, such as burgers, meatballs, and ground beef. The beef affected was packaged between August 29th and September 19th. On the Coast's Stephen Quinn speaks with Kevin Allen, Assistant Professor of Food Microbiology at UBC.
