Political History:

Dufferin-Peel-Wellington-Grey was exclusively Tory territory during its brief history.

David Tilson, who was MPP for Dufferin-Peel from 1990 to 1999, won the new riding of Dufferin-Peel-Wellington-Grey in 1999.

However, Tilson stepped aside in 2002 to clear the way for newly elected party leader and premier Ernie Eves to win the seat in a byelection. Eves held the seat easily in 2003, defeating Liberal Dan Yake by more than 14,000 votes.

Eves resigned in 2005 to make way for new party leader John Tory, who won the ensuing byelection by handily defeating Liberal Bob Duncanson.
