The riding stretches from Brampton city limits in the south to Mayfield Road in the north, and between Kennedy Road South, Vodden Street East, Main Street North and Hurontario Street in the west and Mayfield Road, Torbram Road, Bovaird Drive and Dixie Road in the east.

Political History:

The Tories long had a hold on the Brampton region through Bill Davis, who served as premier from 1971 to 1985. Davis first won the Peel riding in 1959 to 1967, then represented Peel North until 1975 and finally, was MPP for the riding of Brampton until 1985.

In 1987, Liberal Carman McClelland won in the newly created Brampton North riding and repeated the feat in 1990, but was defeated by Progressive Conservative Joe Spina in 1995.

Voters returned Spina in the new Brampton Centre riding in 1999 as he crushed Liberal Gurjit S. Grewal by more than 10,000 votes. Spina went down to defeat in 2003 Liberal Linda Jeffrey eked out a 1,025-vote win.

Tory Raminder Gill won Bramalea-Gore-Malton-Springdale in 1999, beating Liberal Dave Toor. Gill was unseated in 2003 as Liberal Kuldip Kular beat Gill by 3,765 votes.
