Riding Profile:

This southern riding contains some 138 hamlets, and extends from Lake Erie in the south to the city of Brantford in the north.

Manufacturing and agriculture are key sectors of economy, with dairy and tobacco farming being significant parts of the agriculture sector. The Six Nations and New Credit reserves are contained in the riding.

The Haldimand-Norfolk-Brant riding combined 85 per cent of the former Norfolk riding with 40 per cent of Brant-Halidmand following the 1999 redistribution.

Political History:

Former provincial Liberal leader Robert Nixon sat in Brant-Oxford-Norfolk from 1975 to 1985, and in Brant-Haldimand in 1987 and 1990. Nixon was Liberal leader from 1967 to 1976, and again from 1983 to 1984.
