Political History:
In the old riding of Etobicoke-Rexdale, NDP candidate Ed Philip won
in 1987 and 1990. He was later appointed to a series of cabinet posts
under Bob Rae. Philip lost his seat to the Tories in 1995.
After winning the seat in 1999, Tory incumbent John Hastings decided to not seek re-election here.
