Ed Lawrence hour-long gardening special

Ontario Today's resident gardener Ed Lawrence returns to Rideau Hall where he was Chief Horticultural Specialist to six Governors General, from Jules Leger in the 1970s to Adrienne Clarkson in 2005. He and Hallie Cotnam met up with the current Manager of Grounds and Greenhouses, Mark Burleton to tour the garden.

Gardening: Purple vegetables

Food scientists say purple vegetables may be even better for you than your average garden-variety greens.

 

At the University of Guelph, a clinical trial is testing vegetables like drugs to see if the phytochemicals in plant pigments can change risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease.
