Gay-Straight Alliance Clubs
Under the new Accepting Schools Act, schools won't be able to stop students from calling a club a "gay-straight alliance."
The Minister of Education announced the amendment to its anti-bullying bill late Friday.
The new wording speaks to a situation at St. Joseph Secondary School in Mississauga where students wanted a GSA club. But the Catholic school insisted it be called the Open Arms Club.
The Ontario Catholic Trustees Association still objects to the name. The group's president says he hopes the amendment won`t pass.
.
What difference does it make if these clubs are called Gay Straight Alliances?
