Vancouver welcomed the world in spectacular fashion Friday night with a colourful, indeed memorable, opening ceremony at BC Place. Hayley Wickenheiser took the Olympic oath and Rick Hansen, the famed Man in Motion, toted the torch into the stadium — where it was handed off to Catriona Le May Doan, Steve Nash, Nancy Greene-Raine and Wayne Gretzky. Once the internal flame was lit, Gretzky embarked on an outdoor odyssey that culminated in him lighting the external cauldron. Post your comments, views and insights on the spectacle below.
