During a training run today, the Italian racer lost control on the lower part of the course where speeds hit more than 130 km/h.
His sled came out from under him and appeared to hit him in the face.
He slid for about 100 metres before coming to a stop. He walked away and appeared unhurt.
The Whistler track is considered the fastest in the world, with speeds exceeding 150 km/h.
On Thursday, Romanian women's slider Violeta Stramaturaru crashed and had to be airlifted out.
