It may have been for purely selfish reasons that some of us who rely on public transit daily to get in and out of downtown Vancouver didn't embrace the idea of the Olympics.

A CBC team headed to Whistler Wednesday to check out the venue for itself. Wow - no crowds. Not even close. Parking? No problem. Getting a
seat in a restaurant? No problem - as long as your eatery of choice
was fully open.

Vancouver's Olympic spirit

Vancouver is looking like a city that's ready to host the world. In
the past few weeks, the downtown core has been transformed into a
winter wonderland (minus the snow, of course). We were slow to catch
our Olympic spirit, but once we did, we jumped in with both feet so
now, the anticipation of what's to come is almost palpable.
