It really hit me as I walked past a stack of newspapers Thursday morning, a stack of Canadian newspapers. On the front page were the beaming faces of three newly minted gold medallists, American gold medallists.

The hometown advantage

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Canada's athletes are going to
deliver a great Games. Actually, that's not much of a limb. The
statistics over the past couple of years seem to bear out this
conclusion - plenty of world cup wins and international podiums that
put Canada in the hunt to be number one in the Olympic medals tally.

Those golden moments

Less than a week to go before the Olympic games begin and I can't help but think about the journey -- both the physical traveling some Canadians are doing right now, and the emotional trip that got them to this point. And maybe, just maybe, even lead them to the podium.
