Looks like Vancouver's badasses are taking the month off. Figures released by the Vancouver Police show crime is down dramatically since the Games started.

The latest figures show property crime is down nearly 40%; theft from vehicles are down nearly 60% and violent crime is down 23%. So what accounts for the trend? Sure, it could be the 7,000 extra officers patrolling the streets of the Olympic city. Or it could be that the criminals are all at home, glued to the television as they watch those wacky Norwegians in their awesome curling pants.

Perhaps all those Olympics are too occupied with their current obsession to do much else. All those arrests in the streets may be keeping them from their usual shenanigans.

As News 1130 notes: "The next concern is an increase in drunken fans on the streets as the Olympic hockey tournament really gets going."

If that's the worst of Vancouver's problems, maybe we should consider hosting the Olympics in the rest of Canada all of the time -- fewer purse snatchings and fights in the streets. Bring on the ice dancing and dinging cowbells.
