While Canada is getting good wishes and inspiration from virtually every Canadian, Team USA isn't without their supporters.
Many of Team USA's players have been receiving letters of encouragement from U.S. soldiers and veterans.
Each USA player has been adopted by a wounded warrior from their home town, university or NHL city. They were informed that "you are not just playing for your country, but for your warrior as well". A personal package was provided containing a letter of encouragement and various other items, even bullets taken from the soldier's bodies to be placed in the player's locker.
Team USA GM Brian Burke apparently started building the relationship between the military and his players.
Burke's boys have also been getting inspiration from this guy,
five-year-old Josh Sacco, who recites Herb Brooks' speech that spurred the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" team to gold. What's better than an inspirational pre-game pep talk. One delivered by an adorable moppet.
