Weather permitting, the women's downhill race will start at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Here is a look at the competition:
The Contenders
By all rights, this should be the first of many medals for America's Queen of the Slopes: Lindsey Vonn. That is, if her mysterious shin ailment does not impede her ability to get down the hill. It's hard to tell with Vonn and this shin, which she said was a real issue, but did not stop her from posting one of the fastest times in training.
The Top Five
1. Lindsey Vonn, USA, 545 pts
2. Maria Riesch, GER, 416
3. Anja Paerson, SWE, 325
4. Ingrid Jacquemod, FRA, 234
5. Emily Brydon, CAN, 195
Canadian Medal Hopes
Emily Brydon had some great results at the start of the season, where she finished second once and third twice -- two of those results coming at Lake Louise.
The Dark Horse
Can Whistler native Britt Janyk transmit her intimate knowledge of the mountain into a spot on the podium? After posting the fifth fastest time in Monday's training, there's certainly hope.
