Olympic Contenders: Women's giant slalom

Kathrin Zettel will be a heavy favourite in Wednesday's event. The Austrian has won World Cup gold in the event seven times -- most recently last month -- and is currently ranked second in points. Defending world champion Kathrin Hoelzl should also be in contention, while two-time World Cup winner Tina Maze has an outside shot.

The Contenders
Kathrin Zettel will be a heavy favourite in Wednesday's event. The Austrian has won World Cup gold in the event seven times -- most recently last month -- and is currently ranked second in points. Defending world champion Kathrin Hoelzl should also be in contention, while two-time World Cup winner Tina Maze has an outside shot.

Canadian Medal Hopes
Canadians are not expected to be in contention in this event, but at 48th in the World Cup rankings, Marie-Pier Prefontaine will try her best to surprise.

The Dark Horses
Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso will be in tough against their European competition, but will certainly try to the streak of U.S. success on the slopes.
