Olympic Contenders: Women's curling

With all due respect to Cheryl Bernard, it wasn't supposed to be this way.
Here is a look at the women's curling competition, which gets under way on Tuesday:

The Contenders
With all due respect to Cheryl Bernard, it wasn't supposed to be this way. No, Jennifer Jones is the "rock star" of women's curling, winner of the past three Scotties titles. But Jones wilted under the pressure at the Olympic trials and Bernard's Alberta rink earned the right to represent the top-ranked curling nation in the world.

To win, she'll have to get past the Olympics tournament's defending champion, Eva Lund's Swedish rink, also last year's runner-up at the World Curling Championship. And then there is 25-year-old phenom Wang Bingyu, who skipped now-curling power China to gold at that tournament.

The Top Five (WCF World Rankings)
1. Canada
2. Sweden
3. Switzerland
4. China
5. Denmark

Canadian Medal Hopes
See the contenders section above.

The Dark Horse
Angelina Jensen's Danish rink beat Jones for bronze at last year's WCW. Mirjam Ott's Swiss rink should not be taken lightly, either.
