The Contenders
A two-time world champion in the event -- and the defending gold-medallist -- the U.S.'s Shani Davis is far and away the favourite to top the podium in this event, but it will not be easy. Mo-Tae Bum's unexpected victory in the 500 metres on Monday makes the South Korean a definite contender. Mo's veteran teammate Lee Kyou-Hyuk also looks to be in the mix.

The Top Five (Current World Cup rankings)
1. Shani Davis, U.S., 400 pts
2. Tae-Bum Mo, Korea, 215 pts
3. Kyou-Hyuk Lee, Korea, 212 pts
4. Mark Tuitert, Netherlands, 170 pts
5. Mika Poutala, Finland, 162 pts

Canadian Medal Hopes
After finishing a disappointing ninth in the 500-metres, Jeremy Wotherspoon gets one last shot to end his Olympic career on a high note. Denny Morrison, a specialist in the 1,500-metres, hopes to surprise.
