The Contenders
Andre Lange will be tough to overcome in this one -- the German captured gold in Turin in both the four-man and two-man events -- but Steven Holcomb hopes to put up a good fight.
Last year, the American driver brought the U.S. its first world championship in the sport in 50 years. He has continued to find success since then, striking gold three times on the World Cup stage. Holcomb's teammate John Napier could contend as well.
The Top Five (World Cup rankings)
1. Steven Holcomb, U.S., 1615 points
2. Janis Minins, Latvia, 1354 points
3. Andre Lange, Germany, 1334 points
4. John Napier, U.S., 1306 points
5. Thomas Florschuetz, 1302 points
Canadian Medal Hopes
After a fourth-place finish in Turin, Pierre Lueders could threaten here. The 39 year old has a proven track record in the two-man event, capturing gold in Nagano and silver in Turin. His eight world championship medals have helped make him Canada's most successful slider ever.
