Unlike Canadian officials, who had the tough task of selecting a flag bearer from some 205 competitors, Mexico's choice to bear its green, white and red flag was easy -- because the team is made up of just one man.

And what a man he is. The five-time Olympian was born in Mexico, but spends most of his time in Liechtenstein, where he lives a life of general Euro-fabulosity as a German royalty-descended prince. So while his official Olympic page has him listed as the mere Hubertus von Hohenlohe, you can call him Prince Hubertus of Hohenlohe-Langenburg.

At 51, he's the Olympics' oldest competitor, and, if all goes according to plan, skiing's not-so-petit-prince (he's 6'0") will take to the slopes on Tuesday in the giant slalom, then on Saturday in the slalom.

From a recent Time profile

"The fact is, von Hohenlohe is a talented skier who has somehow met the Olympic qualifying standards at 51 -- and it was infinitely easier for him to do that as an athlete from Mexico where no one skis, than from Austria, where the sport is a national obsession and the competition is cutthroat. Is von Hohenlohe simply a rich heir toying around the Alps, and using a poor country to reach the Olympics? 'In life you have a couple of opportunities and openings,' the prince argues. 'And one of them was that I was born in Mexico. Sure, I used it to my favor. But not in an abusive way. You try to find that little thing that makes a difference, and take advantage of them. I took advantage of it.'"

While von Hohenlohe isn't expected to take a medal, it's not like he doesn't have other skills to fall back on. He has another career as a singer, going by the nom-de-pop Andy Himalaya, and as a photographer.

Sample lyric, from his song "I Want Pop":

Polaroid or paranoid/Liechtenstein or Sigmund Freud.

Recently, he shot a series of ads for wrap-dress inventor and former Whitney Port-employer Diane von Furstenberg. Who is, of course, his aunt.

His often NSFW site, which promises to reveal "the Real Prince," also reveals some real chests, from his series of topless photos of ski instructors. Some of whom, it appears, are so speedy that not just their top, but also their pants were blown away into the alps.
