VANCOUVER -- Brian Burke says Toronto Maple Leafs winger Mikhail Grabovski did not re-injure his broken wrist when he was engaged in an alleged street fight during these Olympics. Which doesn't mean the Leafs general manager is overly pleased, though.
"As far as I know, he's healthy," said Burke yesterday. "Stupid, but healthy."
Grabovski was allegedly arrested after a fight in the streets of Vancouver at around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, and was released Sunday morning. Police are investigating, though Burke said it does not sound serious.
"We'll have no comment, obviously, because it's still under investigation," he said. "Our preliminary reports are it seems like a minor incident, but we're not going to comment on it until the police conduct their review."
However, the investigation could take some time.
"They tell me there's a backlog of cases due to the Olympics, this is a minor case, a street fight or argument or whatever it was," said Burke. "They may not get to this for several weeks. We've made it clear that if he needs to appear, he'll appear, but at this point there's no charges pressed and we view it as a minor incident unless we hear different."
