Canadian New Yorker writer Adam Gopnik has scored on
himself.
Canadians are not that nice, he writes, in an article titled Vancouver -- The Big One. He tries to bolster this provocative argument by going on and on about the "desperate depth of emotion with which a Canada-Russia hockey game takes place."
That bit of sniveling aside, the prevailing mood here has been, well, happy. To such a degree that a lot of people in Vancouver--even some Yanks--are calling these the Friendly Olympics. For goodness sake, Games protesters are even saying nice things about police.
But Gopnik isn't here. He's reporting from his home in New York.
