The Games are winding down and you can feel it.
The Games are winding down and you can feel it.

I was getting a bit worried that I wouldn't achieve my own personal goal of getting a photo with Nancy Greene. So, I decided to take it up a notch. Instead of just talking about it and putting in requests through formal channels, I'd enlist the help of my colleagues.
As it turns out, the team on our noon show, BC Almanac, had done the work and had Nancy Greene coming in for their show. All I had to do was show up and make my move.
After her interview with Mark Forsythe, she stepped out into the plaza, I boldly moved in and explained what I wanted and she readily agreed to the photo. I was excited. I think it shows.
One last thought on this. Nancy Greene made me believe Canadian girls can do great things. That was important to me when I was 12. I think these Games will do that in a big way for a whole generation of girls in our country.
Women have been one of the stories of these Games. Clara Hughes winning her sixth Olympic medal, a silver and gold in women's bobsleigh (a special shout out to Heather Moyse from Summerside, PEI, where I was born) and of course the gold in women's hockey.
Moguls, curling, ski cross, snowboard cross and the strength and focus shown by Joannie Rochette in her performance in the face of personal loss.
Women have rocked these Games. That's a legacy to be proud of.
