Vancouver Now - FEBRUARY 12 to 28, VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

An Olympic stroll in the village

Our final day in Whistler got off to a somewhat slow start. Still on a high from what we witnessed at the Sliding Centre the day before accompanied with a dominant win over the Russians in men's hockey, Lane and I took full advantage of our final night in the village. We celebrated a great day in Canadian sport into the wee hours of the morning with fellow Canucks... and oh yes... had another good night's sleep on the sectional at Nordic Place. After checking out of Kristen and Johnny's appartment, we had a few hours to kill before boarding our bus back to Vancouver... we decided to pass the time doing something that (believe it or not), we had yet to do, wander the village of Whistler.

When an event like the Olympics are on, the host cities do everything they can to showcase all the best things about their city - in Whistler, this is not a hard thing to do. As mentioned in a previous post, EVERYTHING about this place is amazing! The Olympic vibe is everywhere in the village. From the giant rings steps away from the Whistler Medals Plaza to the live music in the square, it's the village that never sleeps - especially during the Olympics. Combine that with a complete 360 degree view of the mountains and it's definitely one of the coolest places that I've ever visited.

We cruised the village for the next couple of hours snapping pics, picked up some cool new hockey helmet toques from Lululemon (a popular item at the games) and took in the scenery of this place for one last time. We also met up with our host, Kristen and "The Angriest Man in Whistler" to have lunch and say our goodbyes. Then it was off to Vancouver for the final leg of our Olympic adventure. The only thing left to do - stay awake and admire the view on the 2-hour bus ride back to the city.

Purely Canadian.
