Underwear Donations

Satie Shottha is an underwear designer on a mission. She wants to get new panties into the hands of women in need. Whether it's here in BC or in far away Haiti.

You can hear that conversation after the 7:00 news on Sun Sep 30. And if you'd like to know more or get involved with her mission, you can go to her website kaiaandme.com.

World Rivers Day

World Rivers Day was founded in 2005 by BCIT instructor Mark Angelo in Burnaby. More than 60 countries will participate in this year's global celebration of waterways. In BC Campbell River is holding its Haig-Brown Festival to highlight conservation efforts and celebrate the river. We'll speak with organizer Cynthia Bendickson on Sunday at 7:30 am about what they're planning. Several other communities are also marking the day with river cleanups, festivals, forums and paddles on the river. For more information you can go to  http://commons.bcit.ca/worldriversday/updates/September20_2012.pdf

A BC business owner says the key to success is community engagement

Toby Barazzuol, founder of Eclipse Awards in Vancouver, has embraced the idea that there's more to being a business owner than just making money. His company's values reflect his own: community, sustainability and respect. And he says yes, he's still making money. We'll hear about Toby's views and about his latest community project on Saturday just after 8 am.
