Barbara Hodgson and The Wundercabinet.

The last time I had  author and book designer Barbara Hodgson on the show we were talking about her wonderful books about colour.  In the course of that conversation she mentioned that she and her collaborator Claudia Cohen were working on something quite extraordinary, which was a book that would also be a Wundercabinet.   Wundercabinets (I learned) were cabinets of curiosities which existed from the 16th to the 18th centuries to contain collections of natural history specimens, scientific apparatus, artifacts and art amassed by all kind of collectors.

Barbara Hodgson brought one of the copies of The Wundercabinet into the studio for me to see.  As it happened Bill Richardson dropped by just as she arrived and as Barbara opened the box to show all the hidden treasures it contained and then flipped through the pages of the book we both actually clapped our hands with delight!

I must tell you first that none of these are ordinary books. The colour series and the Wundercabinet (published by Heavenly Monkey) are hand made, limited edition books which are truly exquisite works of art.
