Party at Purden Ski Village!

Thanks again to Keith and Michaela Buchanan of Purden Lake Ski Resort for being such wonderful hosts for North by Northwest on Saturday March 3.  I'll be playing back the show we recorded in the ski lodge this Saturday.

Jason and Pharis Romero
We started the show off with the wonderful music of Jason and Pharis Romero who travelled up to Purden Lake from their home and studio in Horsefly.
Jason and Pharis have a new cd titled A Passing Glimpse which has been getting rave reviews!  They wowed the crowd in Purden too.

Isaac Smeele
We also had some great music from Isaac Smeele who is  a young singer and songwriter from Prince George.  Isaac often works with electronic sounds these days but for us he brought his guitar to Purden.  Thanks to Lindsey Johnson for this photo of Isaac.

And then three of the members of Canadian Waste took to the NXNW stage with some original tunes and a traditional one.  I'll have all their songs on the website soon.

Poets Sarah de Leeuw and Gillian Wigmore came from Prince George to entertain us with fine readings from their new books. Sarah's book Geographies of a Lover is out now (from NeWest Press) and Gillian's Dirt of Ages will be out later this spring. (from Harbour Publishing)

And Bob Campbell, who is the curator at Exploration Place in Prince George came to talk about an almost forgotten Canadian star who has an amazing story!

Here's a shot of Bob Stowell from the ski patrol at Purden...a very funny man!

Keith Buchanan took Derek Bird, Wil Fundel from CBC Prince George, and me up the hill on the ski cat at the end of the day. We could see the McGregor mountain range from up top.

And then the sun came out at Purden Lake ski hill.
