Mariko McCrae Ceramics

I love this description of ceramic artist Mariko McCrae that I found on line recently; "part renegade, part court jester, part activist and community builder, but indeed - all artist".

I have been a big fan of Mariko's ceramic work since I first saw it in a gallery on Gabriola Island.  Mariko plays with design and colour and image to create works that are original, whimsical and always interesting.

Her new show is titled Abigail Tackle: The Life and Times. It's made up of a group of pieces connected by the story of Abagail, who is a fictional character created by Mariko, a prairie woman who is fascinated by the sea!  The show is at the Crafthouse Gallery on Granville Island now.
