Chocolate Heaven

James and Mary Heavy have created a kind of chocolate nirvana in Fernie at their Beanpod Chocolate Cafe.  There they start with raw cocoa pods which they roast and then process in a variety of wonderful vintage machines (which you can watch at work through the glass walls at the back of Beanpod)  In the cafe they sell Mary's beautiful hand crafted chocolates, their own bars, gelato and some memorable chocolate drinks.

The Beanpod is the culmination of a long time dream for James and Mary. They have worked for years learning about chocolate and travelling the world sourcing beans and collecting machinery.

I learned about Beanpod when I was there a few weeks ago to do the show.  First I went in to do some deep research (oh the things I have to do for this job!) and then, when the afternoon rush was over, I went back to talk to James.
