Thanks to Gary Diers

BC beauty
Gary Diers' photo

Sometime in the last century I asked listeners to submit a photo for the new NXNW website and I am happy to say that this shot from Gary Diers was the one chosen by the web designers. So thanks to Gary and to everyone who sent in a BC image!  You can see how the picture was used in the top bar of this site.

Here is a note Gary sent in after hearing from a friend that his photo was the backdrop for this site:

The photo is taken at the completely pristine Edouard Pass looking at Taurus Mountain in the Purcell Mountains.

To me, this photo is so much more than just a pretty picture. I led an expedition for the Wilderness Committee at Edouard Pass after plans were announced to punch a transmission line though this very pass for the proposed Glacier/Howser private power project. Can you imagine transmission lines through this untouched wilderness?

Incredibly, like no other time in my 32 years in the Kootenays, people from all walks of life came together to protect this wilderness!

I see this photo as a tribute to all those in BC actively supporting keeping Beautiful BC beautiful!
