Riding Profile: The Twin Lakes riding encompasses the west half of Inuvik (pop. 3,504), and includes industrial parks, public housing, and expensive new homes. Constituents here tend to be less affluent than in the south half of town, and are more likely to be aboriginal - a mix of Gwich'in and Inuvialuit.

Political History: When Inuvik was split into two ridings in 1999, former Aklavik mayor Roger Allen defeated Glenna Hansen (now the N.W.T.'s commissioner) to become the first MLA for Inuvik Twin Lakes. Turnout in that election was high.
