Current MLA: Darrell Dexter, (NDP) Leader

Riding Profile: This urban riding was re-created in the 2003 redistribution from parts of Dartmouth-Cole Harbour (78 per cent) and Cole Harbour-Eastern Passage (29 per cent). Primarily a residential community, it includes Colby Village, Forest Hills and Wildwood. Cole Harbour Reserve is also part of this riding.

The population is 21,880 and the average income is $30,660. The riding includes two major high schools, Cole Harbour and Auburn High.

 

 


Political History: NDP leader Darrell Dexter has held the riding since 1998. .

1999: NDP Darrell Dexter defeats PC Greg Frampton by 414 votes. Dexter beat LIB Peter Foy by 1,000 votes.
1998: NDP Darrell Dexter defeats LIB Alan Mitchell by 731 votes.
1993: LIB Alan Mitchell defeats PC Michael MacDonald by 1,174 votes.

Voter Turnout: 62 per cent in the 1999 election.
