World travel these days is usually accompanied by a camera. We imagine the tourist or visitor taking quick snapshots.
When Yukon's Suzanne Paleczny lived in Egypt she took photographs but also mixed this immediate picture-taking art with a slower more reflective type of portraiture.
The exhibit of large-scale works is featured in Whitehorse at the Yukon Arts Society Arts Underground Gallery on main street. The show runs until the end of May.
On the day of the show's opening, Paleczny was a guest on CBC's Airplay with host Dave White. She described the process of approaching people and even the required government approval it took to bring her work home from Egypt.
CBC is starting a series on northern visual artists using slides. Do you know someone who should be featured? Contact Philippe.Morin@cbc.ca
