Current MHA: Terry French (PC).

District profile: Composed of part of the town of Conception Bay South. A mix of rural and urban populations, especially as the town of Conception Bay South grows. The district includes the communities of Foxtrap, Long Pond, Manuels, Kelligrews, Chamberlains and part of Topsail.

Conception Bay South underwent significant changes in the 2007 redistribution; 41 per cent of the district was absorbed into Harbour Main district, while 32 per cent of Topsail district was taken in.

Population: 12,083.

Political history:

2003: Tory Terry French took 83 per cent of the vote to rout Liberal Andy Lewis.

2002: PC incumbent Bob French died suddenly in 2002. His son Terry ran for the PCs in the November 2002 byelection and won, defeating Liberal Gary Corbett by 3,811 votes.

1996 - 1999: In 1996, PC Bob French defeated Liberal Bill Dawe. French held onto the seat during the 1999 election, defeating Liberal Bill Lee.

1989-1996: Liberal Patt Cowan defeated incumbent Tory John Butt in 1989 and PC Bud Suter in 1993. She served in cabinet during the Clyde Wells government.

1979-1989: PC John Butt held the district from 1979-1989, serving in cabinet during the Brian Peckford government.
