Current MHA: Percy Barrett (Liberal), who is not seeking re-election.

District profile: Combines traditional fishing communities such as Southern Harbour and Arnold's Cove with the heavy industry of Come By Chance (an oil refinery) and Sunnyside (near the Bull Arm offshore fabrication site). Bellevue underwent significant changes in the 1995 redistribution, losing a northern part to Trinity South and taking in about 10 communities in parts of Placentia and Fortune Bays.

Communities include Arnold's Cove, Arnold's Cove Station, Bay L'Argent, Black River, Blaketown, Bellevue, Bellevue Beach, Chance Cove, Chapel Arm, Come By Chance, Dildo South, English Harbour East, Fair Haven, Garden Cove, Goobies, Goobies Siding, Goose Cove, Grand La Pierre, Harbour Mille, Jacques Fontaine, Little Bay East, Little Harbour, Little Harbour East, Long Cove, Monkstown, North Harbour, Norman's Cove, Old Shop, St. Bernard's, Sunnyside, Southern Harbour, Swift Current, Terrenceville, Thornlea and Woody Island.

The 2007 redistribution made some slight alterations to the borders. No major changes resulted.

Population: 11,005.

Political history:

2003: Barrett retained his seat, narrowly beating Conservative Joan Cleary. Barrett was named in Auditor General John Noseworthy's 2006 investigation of house of assembly finances. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary found insufficient evidence to lay charges against Barrett, who suffered a heart attack after Noseworthy's reports were released.

1999: Barrett beat PC Gus Coombs and New Democrat Mose Ingram, pulling in 61 per cent of the popular vote.

1996: After redistribution, Barrett defeated PC Nick Careen, incumbent from the then Placentia district, by 1,744 votes.

1993: Barrett defeated PC Fred Drover by 2,153 votes.

1989: Barrett defeated PC Bruce Stagg by 1,609 votes.

1985: Liberal Wilson Callan defeated PC Bas Jamieson for the second straight time. Callan later crossed the house to sit with the Tories, but did not run in 1989.

1982: Callan defeated PC Bas Jamieson.

1975-1982: Callan, running as a Reform Liberal, defeated Liberal Hubert Kitchen by 142 votes. Callan joined the Liberals on Sept. 14, 1976. In 1979, he stepped aside to let Bas Jamieson’s brother Don run in this seat. Don Jamieson defeated PC Robert Peddle. After Don Jamieson quit as Liberal leader in 1981, Callan won the seat again, in a byelection.
