Des épinettes à perte de vue, aucun village à l'horizon, un paysage sauvage et nordique... Bienvenue sur la toute nouvelle route trans-labradorienne. Ouverte l'hiver dernier, cette route relie les communautés du Labrador au reste du Canada.
Depuis son ouverture, ils ont été nombreux à l'utiliser : des travailleurs, des touristes, mais surtout des gens du Labrador qui peuvent maintenant se déplacer d'une communauté à l'autre.
Une équipe de CBC - Radio-Canada a parcouru la route du Labrador pour tracer un portrait des impacts de cette route sur les communautés.
The road ahead
Some are calling it the freedom highway. In reality, it's a gravel road that runs from Happy Valley-Goose Bay to Cartwright, then along the south coast of Labrador all the way to Blanc-Sablon in Quebec.
But its completion last winter means big changes for residents of communities that were once isolated from each other and had no previous road link to the outside world.
This fall, a CBC - Radio-Canada team took to the road to prepare a portrait of its impact on the people, the economy and the future of the region.
