Friday Update

Hey Folks,

Well, as I mentioned yesterday here on the blog and last night on Here & Now, how much mixing occurred on the Northeast Coast would make or break the Snowfall forecast.

And as you folks in the Metro area and along the Coast already know... break the forecast did.

From the very start of this system last night and right through this morning... it's been mixing. With Rain and Freezing Rain winning the battle over the Snow. Temperatures were just too warm for snow, plus 1. As a result there's nothing on the ground to show for it.

Now, Inland, it's a different story. Make your way in from the Coast and as best I can tell, it's been a Mix... but the Snow has been winning the battle.

Snowfall Warnings remain in effect for a good portion of Central Newfoundland with again, lots of mixing expected closer to the Coast.

And so obviously I've made some adjustments to the Snowfall Map from last night.

1) The top half of totals in Central are gone. With some mixing, even inland this afternoon, 15-20 cm will be about the most you'll see.
2) Along the Coast I've moved the Mixing line inland and where I had Mixing... that 15-25 from last night has been split into 5-15 mm of Rain and 5-10 cm of Snow.
3) The West Coast I dropped you to 5-10 however I think some localized areas near Corner Brook and Gros Morne have a 15 cm potential by Saturday morning.

***2PM UPDATE- I just received an email from a viewer/listener in Clarenville who is reporting 20-25 cm of Snow in the area overnight and into early this morning... so it appears although localized... some places did receive a good shot of Snow. Good news if you're planning to hit up White Hills this weekend!

Ryan, where's the jet stream gone? I've been looking at the the N. Am. map and it's nowhere to be seen!

Really enjoy your weather coverage!
