Another Friday = Another Snow Event? -4pm Update
Hey Folks, First things first... Thursday In Labrador Tomorrow in Labrador is looking pretty unsettled as the system over Newfoundland today shifts North and brings a messy mix to the place that just can't catch a break this month, Eastern Labrador. The Coast of Labrador-North of Groswater Bay on Thursday will see 5-10 cm of Snow which isn't too bad. Another Friday Snowfall? It seems Friday's in February are the Snowfall days for Newfoundland... especially in the East. -St. John's the past 2 Friday's we've seen 38 cm and then 5-10 cm plus 15 mm of Rain. And that's really been the story this month... the Northeast Coast takes the brunt with a Northeast flow. This Friday's system is looking no different as it's approaching the Island from the Southeast... meaning a Northeast flow. So just like last Friday, the question of Snow or Rain is once again at the forefront. The Canadian GEM Model This model is showing a solid period of Snow overnight Thursday and into Friday morning in Eastern Newfoundland and along the Northeast Coast. Like 20+ cm kind of solid. However a change over to Rain appears in the cards with this model again as we push into the afternoon. The American GFS Model This model is kind hovering the Northeast Coast right along that Snow/Mix/Rain line. However as you can see isn't shying away on the moisture coming in with this thing either. This afternoon model run you're looking at has been the strongest yet... showing a solid blast of precip. But again whether it is Snow or Rain or both is TBD. The model runs through Tonight & Tomorrow morning will be the deciding factor on this thing. Stay tuned. Ryan 4PM UPDATE LATEST CANADIAN MODEL RUN JUST CAME OUT. SNOW OVERNIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY AND SIGNIFICANT SNOW ON FRIDAY MORNING. IT ALSO KEEPS THE BULK OF THE RAIN OFF THE NORTHEAST COAST ON FRIDAY, WHICH WOULD BE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU SNOW LOVERS. EC HAS ISSUED A SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT. STAY TUNED. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/SWS_bulletins_e.html?prov=nl Your Comments
