A Quick Look At The Next Friday System
Hey Folks, So as I mentioned last night, I'm already watching our next system which is rolling into the Eastern United States as we speak. This system will be rolling North on Thursday and will likely be influencing Eastern Newfoundland with some Snow as early as Thursday evening. After that, the models are some what divided. -The GEM model is really brewing up a deep strong Low. However right now, it's also the model that is the strongest with the Snow eventually changing to Rain for a good chunk of Newfoundland on Friday and Southeastern Labrador Friday night and Saturday. -The GFS American model has also been wrapping some Rain in on Friday as well. Now in the latest afternoon model run, the system is a bit further East and North however it's still bringing a mix to Rain along the Northeast Coast and the Coast of Labrador. It's also showing a weaker system which wouldn't pack near as much punch. -The European model is also showing a stronger system, which would also keep the bulk of the Province seeing Snow right through Saturday. As always, over the next 24-48 hours I'll be keeping a close eye on all of the forecast models and I'll keep you up to date as we get closer to Thursday night. Ryan Your Comments

2 questions for you: The other
night, you mentioned that the back
was broke on winter due to the high
over greenland being stationary and
blocking the lows from moving to
the east. Why is it stationary? I
know what the jet stream is, but
what causes it?
