FINAL SNOWFALL MAP
Well, this has been quite the week trying to forecast this "Storm" for Eastern Newfoundland. From 30-40 cm, to 5-10 cm, to 1-3 cm, to 10-20 cm, to 20-30 cm, to 15-30 cm... the models have been flip flopping like never before... trending East, then West, then East again... Even this afternoon the NAM- North American model is still showing a huge Storm for tomorrow... 30-40+ cm of Snow. However it's all on it's own... the rest of the models have backed right off on that idea and have the majority of the Snowfall offshore. So with that in mind here's my last kick at the can... I'm pretty confident with this forecast. However, I will say before I sign off here that... with the cha cha cha the models have been doing all week... you just never know... this is Newfoundland!! That said, I'm sticking to my map above. COLD SHOT NEXT WEEK Some good news for you Ski lovers... there is finally some Cold air moving into the Province next week. Winds will be in from the North and temperature High's at Marble Mountain from Sunday to Thursday look like they'll be between -4 and -6!!! That's perfect Snow making weather!! Plus flurries everyday on the West Coast as well. Next week's Cold shot looks like it will be the Coldest one so far this Winter for the entire Province. So get ready for it! Have a great weekend. All the forecast models initialized today set the storm about 10mbs weaker than analysis (985 vs 975)... does this explain environment canada's botched forecast? Even today at 11 they were only expecting 10 cm, but there is at least 20cm down by the looks of it and the snow hasn't stopped yet as of 8pm.
so what was the final snowfall amt that we had on Jan 9th?
