WINTER ARRIVES & A LOOK AHEAD
Hey Folks, As you already know Winter officially arrives this afternoon at 2:17 NT... or 1:47 in most of Labrador. And what a way to start the official winter season... 20-30 mm of Rain for the Eastern half of Newfoundland tonight and tomorrow. Our Low to the South has already started to pull in with Rain for the Southeast Coast this afternoon that Rain will spread to the Northwest tonight and tomorrow. Western Newfoundland will likely see no more than 10 mm from this system... and in Labrador it's mixed in the East and perhaps as much as 5 cm of Snow in the West. A LOOK AHEAD Tis the season of traveling to see friends and family. Whether it's by plane, boat or car, everyone seems to be on the move over the next few weeks. So I thought I would take a peak into the Long Range today on the blog. Here are a few major points I'd like to mention when looking at the forecast models for over the next 2 weeks or so. -Our generally unsettled pattern which has been in place over the next few weeks will FINALLY take a break later this week. An area of High pressure will edge it's way in from the North, clearing things out in Labrador as early as Wednesday. -I'm watching a potential Stormy system brewing up for the 27th and into the 28th for the entire Province. This system has been showing up on the computer models since last week and is still there. The timing hasn't changed much, but how strong it will be the exact track remain to be seen. Here's a look at the GFS long range model for Sunday night the 27th. -As you know this Province can be tough to predict a few days in advance, however as best I can tell the week of the 28th will be a return to a mostly unsettled pattern. Our 27th-28th system looks slow to exit with no big ridges of High pressure in sight. That said, I'm not seeing any big storms on the models either. I'll keep ya posted. Ryan Your Comments
