Sunny, Saturday System, Sunny Again

Hey Folks,

Well, our area of High pressure which has been knocking at the door... waiting to move in for a few days now... is finally sliding today. Things are clearing out across the Province and Sunshine will become the main forecast feature over the next 5... or maybe even 7 days.

FANTASTIC FRIDAY
Friday is looking terrific. In Newfoundland there will hardly be a cloud in the sky and temperatures could hit 8 or 9 degrees in some parts of Central. In Labrador you have a slight chance of flurries, but again sunshine is in your forecast as well.

SATURDAY SETBACK
Saturday is our no doubt are gloomiest day of the next 5 or so. I'm tracking a system which is rolling up through the Great Lakes today and will move into our Province just in time for the weekend.

For Newfoundland this thing will be primarily a rain event. Generally 5-10 mm for Central and East. However along the West Coast the potential for 20 to maybe even 30 mm is there.

Depending on the exact track of this system, The Northern Peninsula could be in for a solid mix of Rain and Snow. 10-20 mm of Rain and maybe 10-15 cm of Snow for some Northern sections. Again, depends on the track.

In Labrador, Snow will be on your menu... with the heaviest shot in store for the Southeast and Straits. The potential for 10-20+ cm is certainly there. Even up towards the Cartwright area you could see a decent 10+ cm.
Across the 500 from Happy Valley-Goose Bay to Churchill Falls to Labrador City... at this point could see anywhere between 5 and 15 cm. A slight shift in the track will make a big difference.

I'll have the latest forecast track tonight on Here & Now.

SUNDAY SUNSHINE
Our system will be quick to exit on Sunday... so Sunshine will back on the menu. However winds will be in from the North and so temperatures will be cool. The area of High pressure moving in behind our system looks like it wants to stick around into Monday and maybe even into Tuesday.

More details in your Long Range forecast tonight on Here & Now.
